Black Gold Welcomes Charlie Parkinson

Black Gold Developments is pleased to welcome Charlie Parkinson to the team.

Charlie is extremely well-versed in the construction industry, forming a general building company with his brother at 19 years old. He began with small renovations and extensions, then specialised in plumbing and heating becoming a Gas Safe Engineer at 24.

After launching his own plumbing company and gaining an excellent little black book of contacts, it wasn’t long before a local contractor approached Charlie and asked him to undertake site management on a sub-contractor basis. Although Charlie had invested time, money and training into plumbing he knew his heart was in construction and therefore welcomed the job offer with open arms.

The rest is history as they say. Charlie has been managing construction sites for five years, specialising in high-end homes in and around Poole, Dorset.

Black Gold Developments CEO, Julian Jones, spotted Charlie’s capabilities and asked him to manage the site at Beaumont Road with Black Gold Country Homes.

“I was immediately engrossed in the Black Gold way,” says Charlie, “the concept of computer integrated constructional BIM is the future.”

Following the Beaumont Road project, Charlie saw Black Gold Developments move forwards with their BIM projects, whilst other domestic building contractors seemingly less likely to invest in BIM due to the cost and willingness to adopt new, fresh and efficient ways of working.

Realising BIM is the future, Charlie approached Black Gold Developments to see if he too could leap into the BIM world with both feet. As fate would have it, the Martello Road South project was due to commence. Once again championing BIM at the domestic level.

Charlie is now managing the Martello Road South project as well as very hands-on at Canaway Court, Poole. The latter being the first residential development in the UK to be designed and constructed entirely in BIM; no 2D drawings were used .
